New Pictures

We had a few days of warmth last week so I took some new pictures. They were all too cute that I couldn't choose. Amiyah loves being outside so much and she also loves being in front of the camera. I had to edit these a little because the shadows were pretty harsh on her face. It is my first attempt at editing photos for a real reason (other than erasing my blemishes and/or belly bulge). Hope they turned out okay.

When I sit down to design, the hardest part is coming up with a fresh and exciting color palette. My woes are over, I found GenoPal. One of the best things about this schemer that is different than others is it's compatibilty with Photoshop, which is a biggie for me. The possibilities are endless with this program. I have tried everything under the sun and this is by far the best, IMO.

Thanks GenoPal creators for this wonderful product.

The New Me!!

I have decided after much thought to leave my current store at digitals. I am going to take a sabbatical and rework some of my designs and most of them will be locked away on my hard drive forever. There may be a freebie or two here for you in the coming months so keep your eye out. I am planning big things for April-May time frame so be on the lookout for those too. This blog will be going away and I will have a new and vastly improved one in the future. BIG, BIG, PLANS!

Open Letter to everyone thinking of designing

LEARN YOUR PROGRAM

Designing is more than making some stuff and selling it. It is more than an easy way to make money (it isn't easy and you aren't going to get rich) Designing is hard and stressful and draining, but it is also rewarding and fun. NOBODY is going to hand it to you on a silver platter. It is HARD work. It takes time and energy. There isn't a go to place or person, you need to learn your program. There is no magical key to designing, there is no easy way. If this is something you want to do then plan on spending lots and lots of time learning. I (or any other designer) should not be able to recreate your kits in a matter of minutes. Be a designer in you own right, stand on your own two.

I am by no means saying I am the best the digi-designing community has to offer, but I bust my butt. I spend a lot of time learning and growing. I wont say I never use tutorials, because I have but I would NEVER make a whole kit from tuts and actions and call it mine. Change, adapt, and grow. Use tutorials as a base and add on them, make stuff truly your own. I can honestly say that I learn more with each new thing I design.

Designing is NOT something you want to do if you don't have a backbone. I have a pretty thick skin and there have been times that I wanted to crawl under a rock and never come out. I have looked back on the kits I made just a few short months ago, and when I made them I thought they were great. When I look at them now I wonder what I was thinking. Your ego is going to take blows and your feelings are going to be hurt. You are going to be let down and you are going to have disappointments. There are highs and lows and I have learned all of this in just a few short months. This business is not for the weak-hearted. I pour so much of myself into EVERY thing that I design and I can truly say that my stuff is uniquely mine.

A gentle Nudge

Stephanie Ogren, the sweet soul that she is gently nudge me to update my blog. I guess a post a month isn't working for her, LOL. It probably isn't working for my readers either LOL.

What has been going on with me, hmmmmm..... Nothing too much, I spent about 3 hours last night on and off fighting with shutterfly to try and get some LO printed. After trying to get shutterfly to not close down my browser to no avail, I did some searching to see where else I could get my LO printed. Costco wasn't going to work, I refuse to buy I membership there just for photos. I searched and searched, the problem was not so much the printing it was the size I needed. I want to send my DH a book but since he is in Iraq I need small, so I was looking for 6X6. I finally gave up and posted where I should have went all along DST. Jennilyn gave me some great sites and I order my prints in about 10 minutes time and cheap too. I went to Scrapbook Pictures and got 25 5X5 photos printed for 12.74 cents and that INCLUDES shipping!!!! WOO HOO!!!!

I am currently looking for another store to sell my designs. I love selling at Digitals and Stacey is a great "boss" and so on top of everything, but I just feel I need to branch out and possibly widen my customer base. The search for a new store has proven difficult and to be quite an ego drainer. However, I know that there is room for me to grow and improve and there are two stores that haven't heard the last of me!!! BWAH HA HA HA HA!

It has been FOREVER

It has been forever since I have posted a blog. A little of what is going on with me, My DH is deployed, he just left on October 29th to start his 8 months in Iraq. I think this is quite possible the hardest thing to do. It is so weird and hard not having him home. I never realized how much I actually depended on him and now that he isn't here it is way obvious. My Amiyah is growing up soooo quickly, it is amazing and sad. Where did the time go when she was my little baby, snuggling, and cuddling, AND SLEEPING LOL. She was a pumpkin for Halloween and she was so cute but didn't want to look at the camera so my shot aren't that great. Anyway, Thanks for reading and check out my new kit at Digitals.

I made a new kit (idea courtesy of Fran B.) I call it Feathered Friends. I hope that some people can find use for this kit. It has 10 papers, 2 sets of photo corners and various parrot embellishments. The colors I used are blue, red, yellow, and green. Please leave me comments and let me know what you think. Hello all. My name is Grace and I design digital scrapbooking kits. I just started so I am making this blog so I can be critiqued (hopefully constructivley) and give away my kits! I am always looking for free kits and quality ones are hard to find so I decided to make my own.
